Bleriot XI, Collings Foundation, Stow, Massachusetts, USA. Although an original airframe (dating from 1909) this aircraft is not as old as the one at Old Rheinbeck Aerodrome in New York State, and both are 'younger' than the oldest flying aircraft in the world, the Bleriot XI of the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, Bedfordshire. This Bleriot has also lost its original Anzani three-cylinder engine, which has been replaced by a modern unit. #Bleriot #aircraft #aviation #museum #Stow #Massachusetts #USA #avgeek #CollingsFoundation #Anzani #engine

Destination's Journey
Welcome to the OLDEST flying #aircraft in the World! This 1911 Blériot XI was manufactured approximately 3 months prior to that held at Old Rheinbeck, New York, USA. This aircraft is part of the Shuttleworth Collection based on the grass airfield at Old Warden, #Bedfordshire, #UK. It is fitted with a three-cylinder 'fan configuration' air-cooled Anzani engine. Due to the significance of this #Blériot XI , its flights are strictly limited to straight 'hops' down the length of the grass #runway at Old Warden, during certain public events. #history #aviation #photography #OldWarden #aviationmuseum #oldestaircraft #ShuttleworthCollection #grassairfeld #museum #BlériotXI #Anzani #aircooled #avgeek #technology #flight #aviationphotography #Mastodonaviation #Mastodonphotography
One of the earliest 'practical' #aircraft, this 1909 Bleriot XI, with an original 3-cylinder Anzani engine, is on display the #Owlshead Transportation Museum in #Maine, #USA. A little out of the way, but a grand #museum. #history #flight #Bleriot #aviation #French #engineering
