Purtroppo l'industria farmaceutica fa da padrone nelle nuove pandemie: non si scoprono molti antibiotici mentre i nuovi peptidi che simulano il glucagone (GLP-1) hanno fatto il botto. Il glucagone, un ormone snobbato perché non se ne era ben capito il meccanismo, è alla base della svolta terapeutica per il diabete mellito. In seguito principalmente per l'obesità e per i vantaggi cardiologici. E così, dopo una grande gioia per i pazienti cronici, ci ritroviamo in un mondo in cui si segnano farmaci assai costosi per "anoressizzare" gli obesi invece di agire alla base psicologica del problema. Ho visto tanti pazienti chiedere una puntura "facile" da 300 euro al mese, al posto di fare una dieta ed attività fisica.
