A cool replacement for the plastic pharmacy orange medicine containers. Tully Tubes are paper and still child resistant and hold up to temp and water... Hope we see these adopted by pharmacies ASAP. #BeyondPlastics

Howdy, fedi friends. Is there some tool that highlights hashtags that have "made it" and have traction?

As an example, I'm feeling like 2025 is going to be a year in which I focus more attention on plastic awareness and avoidance. I'd like to find that community and add to the conversation.

Just learned about this documentary, Blue Vinyl. Looks like something worth watching!

Another eye opener from last night’s webinar:

In May 2021 a ship caught fire off the coast of Sri Lanka and eventually sunk. The disaster released 1,680 metric tons of plastic pellets “nurdles” into the ocean which covered nearby beaches in plastic dunes. 🤯😭

It is with deep regret that I must admit that #vegan #fashion relies heavily on #plastic that does not last very long and has to be discarded when in disrepair. While I am remaining #plantbased in #diet, to minimize harm to animals, I will thrift and even buy new #wool #leather or #fur if #cotton alternatives are not available. This is the most #zerowaste thing I can do at the moment.

That said, I detest fur on coats, or leather jackets. I will not wear such obnoxious garments.

If you’re looking to avoid plastics and think canned beverages might be better than plastic bottles… Nope! The cans are plastic-lined. One study found a higher amount of chemical leaching and microplastics from those liners vs plastic bottles. Ugh!

Check out this MEL experiment if you want see the plastic bag in a can yourself.

Today I learned that cigarette butts are made of #plastic. I always assumed they were paper and cotton. Nope. Cellulose acetate. Butts are the most common plastic pollution as foks just flick ‘em thinking they will decompose 😑
