As an #introduction since the migration doesn't bring my history over. Hi all and #BeigeBless I am delighted to join this eclectic server and hope that I can live up to the high standards.

I am a medium old (re-entered the prime decades) white guy living in the middle of the US but don't hold that against me. Married, two kids that aren't exactly "kids". I used to talk a lot about #SSIS, #SQLServer, #python, C#, #Databricks but anymore I think just chat about what's going on in my life.

I read almost every single bit of alt text on all the images I see. I love understanding other people's takes on what they are posting, and sometimes people put fun "Easter eggs" in the alt text. 🥚❤️

I have been worried a bit about the absence of our beloved Beige master.
I knew they needed some personal time. But the instance hasn't been updated in quite a while...
And while it still works now...
I see many more Beige folks sharing their alt accounts.
My three main accounts are all on Beige....
I have a Friendica account that I occasionally use to boost friends toots with (and my own).
I guess this could count as my alternative account, should Beige ever go black........

I love storytelling. Not in the LinkedIn type of branding way, but storytelling in the way of keeping our shared humanity alive kind of way. I’ve performed at storytelling events, podcasts and curated art shows with my words, photography and mixed media art works. My body often serves as the canvas or vessel of my art, no matter where I travel, here I am at home in my body. While my first photos were taken by my own hands with a 110 film camera when I was under two years old, I only began self portraiture after my children were born. My mother hated pictures of her, she didn’t like the way she looked, so she avoided the camera…meaning that I don’t have many pictures of my mother. I recognized in early parenting how easy it could be to disappear into motherhood, but I didn’t want to forget myself or have them look back and see that I was also hiding from the camera, from being seen. So I began deeply looking at myself and translating my own experience in front of the lense. This practice was deeply healing for me and helped me in countless ways.
