Just found out that #BeagleIM automatically fetches web links in messages and plays the page's video if there is one.

This is not acceptable behavior!!!

* It's annoying. There isn't any obvious way to stop the video.

* It's insecure. The linked page might attack vulnerabilities in Beagle's video player.

* It exposes the user's IP address to anyone who sends them a message, potentially physically endangering them.

Will uninstall and replace ASAP.

je viens d'installer #monal et #beagleim sur #macos

Il n'y a pas photo, #beagleim c'est mieux.

points forts de #beagle en 2sec:
- la visio conf marche direct avec #conversations
- les images ne sont pas recadrées bizarrement comme dans #monal

points faibles:
- l'interface n'est pas traduite (anglais)
- pas possible de l'installer sans passer par l'AppleStore
- leur site web et les captures d'écran ne font pas honneur au produit.

Pronto... separei minhas contas de #xmpp em diferentes apps no desktop e mobile.

No desktop:

  • A conta "pública" tá no #BeagleIM pois ele é ótimo para interagir em canais públicos (MUC)
  • A conta "privada" tá no #Monal pois é ótimo para conversas 1:1 e grupos

No celular:

  • No isafashionPhone01 (#iOS) tem o #Monal com a conta privada
  • No isafashionPhone02 (#Android) tem o #Conversations com ambas contas (pública e privada) porque ele é excelente em todos contextos

@lproven Sadly it's not only the companies not supporting #XMPP anymore, but also the client ecosystem becoming more and more degraded.

For example, on Mac there used to be a bunch of well maintained OSS clients, like #AdiumX. These are more or less gone, with a few exceptions like #BeagleIM and #MonalIM. Might be a different situation on Linux though...

This is sad. For me XMPP on its high was the pinnacle of IM.

Within our #BeagleIM app, MUC room owners or admins possess the necessary authority to #manage the channel configuration. Did you know that you have the ability to manage message #moderation in the Channels (Multi-User Chat rooms) you've set up using the #BeagleIM app? This feature becomes accessible once you have the required permissions (such as being an owner, administrator, or moderator). To make use of this feature, simply open the context menu associated with a message. You can achieve this by right-clicking your mouse on the image presented below.
