Last night I used #BeMyAI to help some sided colleagues on holiday to get their air conditioner to work correctly, Understand how to use there dishwasher and how to use the induction cooktop in their holiday rental. All bye just taking photos and asking for the instructions with simple questions. Now I could’ve used #ChatGPT or #Gemini and that’s what I told them they could do in the future. Quicker than Google and solving simple everyday problems. Not rocket science I know but an every day use of AI that some people forget about.
It was a real case of the blind leading the blind!

the new feature on #BeMyAI that allows you to save photos including the description directly on the photos app on IOS is amazing. it's like having a realtime AI camera for taking photos. the only downside of this is, you're not able to take photos on high resolution like the camera app does. but at least, good thing for taking photos for our up coming trip to #Riccione. #Blind #Blindness #BlindPhotography #Photography #AI #Accessibility #BeMyEyes #Italy

The software, available for Windows, Android and iPhone takes a picture or image and provides a very detailed description that you can copy into your Alt text (see examples below).

The interface is extremely simple and the program works for art, nature and graphs.

I frequently see people asking, even demanding, that AI-generated Alt Text stop. If those folks clearly have usable vision, I block them and move on – life’s too short for preachy whining from people who don’t rely on Alt Text.

But when it’s a blind person saying this, I’m surprised. As a blind person myself, I know that 99% of the images I encounter online lack any description. Now, with a suite of AI tools, I can finally generate accessible, usable image descriptions. Are they perfect? No. Computer vision isn’t sight, but it’s made staggering progress – beyond what I ever expected. And if I need more clarity, I can always consult a human through these same tools.

Blind people slamming AI-generated Alt Text isn’t helping. We need these systems to improve, not disappear. The reality is, expecting every image to have a human-created description is unrealistic. Let’s push for better technology, not bash what’s already making a difference.
