@ikkeT Internal lithium batteries are anti-pattern: a) they lack proper hard case (which is primary reason for making them - to save BOM money in manufacturing). Hard case in lithium batteries would help battery to stay fit and make it more safe.
b) there's no way for end user to observe a dangerous swollen battery until it's too late. I once had ThinkPad where the battery got swollen so that touchpad stopped working.

I boycott such computers; with phones it's more difficult.

🎉 Congratulations! 🎉 You've single-handedly revolutionized #laziness by crafting a custom TV remote because replacing batteries was just too mainstream. 🚀 Let's all salute this groundbreaking #innovation while the rest of humanity continues to wallow in their AAA-battery-reliant misery. 😂🔋

NUS researchers develop new battery-free technology to power electronic devices using ambient radiofrequency signals

Ubiquitous wireless technologies like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G rely on radio frequency (RF) signals to send and receive data. A new prototype of an energy harvesting module – developed by a team led by scientists from the National University of Singapore (NUS) – can now convert ambient or ‘waste’ RF signals into direct current (DC) volta...

Prepared some #batteryfree #Nokia #N9 devices for mainline #Linux #OMAP #hacking. All of them had swollen battery - wouldn't keep this old stuff around anymore at home w/battery connected.

Removal is PITA. Plastics (cover needs to be stretched) has aged & cracks, also maybe 50% screws broke when unscrewing them thanks to heavy thread lock. Not sure what all I broke but at least 1 display remains working. TV out is handy in case you break the display.

This kind of mechanics should be illegal.

No more new laptops for me.
