I wholeheartedly recommend #BasicSync as an alternative. It has several advantages to SyncthingFork.
- Reputable developer
- Not affected by Android's thread limits
- No alternative GUI, so no errors sink into oblivion

It actually is, because both are just wrappers for the same Syncthing, honest. But you can try #BasicSync too, which again is a wrapper, but more resistant to Androids thread limits.
I switched from #SyncthingFork to #BasicSync on #android for running #syncthing . You can export/import the syncthing profile. Worked flawless for me.
Ofc this doesnt copy the settings for e.g. runtime conditions (trusted networks, charging, ...).

Stimmt, Syncthing geht einfach reibungslos, da gibt es auch noch #BasicSync als alternative. Wenn du in den cloud sichern willst, könntest du mal auch #RoundSync (basierend auf den mächtigen #rclone projekt) probieren.

There was some turmoil regarding the original developer stepping down and the trustworthiness of the new dev. Hence the new contender #BasicSync was born, I highly recommend it, the developer is a well known Android developer with very good reputation. The biggest drawback there is that it is only available on Github https://github.com/chenxiaolong/BasicSync
not even on Fdroid. Using #Obtainium solves that problem.

Or you can always ask for help, the first steps might seem intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, you'll love it. Promise. #Syncthing #BasicSync
Does anyone know why syncthing-fork is no longer available on Github?

FWIW, this developer, chenxialong, has quite a strong reputation in the Android community. He’s had pull requests merged into GrapheneOS (Add high EMF (PWM) mode setting for Pixel 10 series by chenxiaolong · Pull Request #390 · GrapheneOS/platform_packages_apps_Settings · GitHub), which has a very high bar for quality, and he’s active on the GOS forums as well. I’m still using the original app from Dec 2025, but this is probably the alternative I’ll upgrade to when it becomes necessary/I get a...

I just can't believe the drama with #SyncthingFork escalating even further

I already switched to #BasicSync, very satisfied with it, even contributed to the translations.

It would appear that @Catfriend1 has deleted their account and then started anew. Much as that isn’t an action I’d have recommended under the circumstances for the purposes of building trust, it does seem somewhat in-character. For what it’s worth, from what I can glean as an admin, both the old and new account had 2FA enabled and come from the same region of the world. 🤷 Oh the drama. I guess a cool next step could be for researchxxl to rename their GitHub account, rebase the ...
