Bantu Spaceship takes their inspiration from Zimbabwe's rich pop music traditions, including Sungura, Jit, and Chimurenga, and infuse them with western electronic sounds and occasional club beats. Singer Fulani Okandlovu and producer Joshua Chiundiza, the core members of the band, bring their own flavor of Afro-futurism into their music, which is bright, upbeat, and buoyant. A strong southern African dance floor vibe permeates their songs with the characteristic chiming guitars, delivered expertly by the two outstanding guitarists that complete the combo, Thando Mlanbo and The Serpant, who provide a great deal to their sound with their sparkly, joyful flourishes.
