I've been a broken record on this for three years and I'll be a broken record for as long as that fucking website exists: X is a viciously racist far-right organising platform that ONLY WORKS because a huge number of centrists, lefties and progressivs cannot stop propping it up

This is perfect: cost of running the brain vs AI

You pay into Social Security your whole life and now the Government says it can only pay you back 78% of it.

That's $500 less every month, on average.

The new Social Security trustees' report just dropped and says the retirement trust fund runs dry at the end of 2032. Three months earlier than last year's projection.

Once the trust fund empties, the program can only pay what it collects. And that only covers 78% of promised benefits.

That's $500 less each month for the average retiree.

This is all one of the side effects of everyone moving to index investing. It's been a 50 year process, but now we have something like 80% to 85% of all investment just passively sitting in indexes.

It's hard to argue that prices are really being set correctly when only 15% of the owners even talk about the price. And these "trillion dollar companies" are basically trying to drive right into that big loophole.

Finance: The Street | 'Big Short' investor sends warning on SpaceX's June 12 IPO

"Steve Eisman says SpaceX's prospectus reads like science fiction and its AI-driven valuation is crazy."

"His substantive worry is what the company has become. The business going public is not only rockets. SpaceX is listing together with its sister companies... That combination has turned a space company into an enormous AI spender."

I didn't make it to the library (my facemask broke a strap before I could go in and I didn't have a spare with me) so I went to the park instead and wrote a poem. I've been working through John redmond's "How To Write a Poem" (at a rate of like a chapter a month, so thankful to my library for letting me keep renewing it) and this chapter was on long lines, so I wrote a poem with lines of 12 syllables or more.

I'll post it in the reply to this, behind the content warning, because I feel it would be irresponsible to expose folks to my bad poetry without warning.

WARNING: Apple MacOS 27 is reportedly loaded with massive, non-disableable Google Gemini AI SLOP

Presumably Apple is paying Google a fortune for access to their
misinformation SLOP machine Gemini AI, and Apple wants to make sure you can't opt-out. That's how the billionaire Big Tech CEOs operate. They stuff this garbage DOWN YOUR THROAT like they own you. DISGUSTING.

Reports so far -- subject to change as I learn more -- are that unlike in previous versions of macOS there is no simple way to disable "Apple Stupidity" -- oops, I meant "Apple Intelligence" which is wedded at the hip to Siri. Also, reports are that the AI crap alone is taking 10s of gigabytes of space and comes right back when deleted. If you don't have a big storage Mac, this is going to hurt. Does Apple care? OF COURSE NOT. Like Google, it's all about keeping their billionaire CEOs living the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed and we could never dream of.

You might let Apple know how you feel about this, for whatever good it does.

If I learn more that changes any of this, I'll let you know.

This is a journalist from 60 minutes describing the lengths they went to in order to present Twin Cities protesters as violent. Nonetheless, CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss said the coverage didn't make the protesters look violent enough.

Note the double standard: "violence" for ICE is murdering people, "violence" for protesters is raising their voices.

The truth is that in any corporate media coverage of law enforcement, anything short of servile compliance will be framed as "violence." That's why we have to demystify the language of "violence" itself, rather than insisting on "non-violence." The latter will only result in more and more activities being designated "violent."
