I'm going to try and start reposting my #aGinkgoaDay again. Starting off, we're finally moving away from Ginkgo(ites):
This is #Baiera aquilonia, from the Early #Cretaceous of the Arctic. Baiera species are primarily differentiated from Ginkgoites in having fewer veins per lobe. #paleoart #plants
Another very small leafed species today, #Ginkgoites #brauniana is a many lobed species from the German Wealden which was originally described as a species of #Baiera. Leaves similar to G. brauniana have also been found in the younger USA Potomac Group. #paleobotany #paleoart
Today's collection of #leaf sketches. This time, they're all (more or less) #Baiera, a leaf which was incredibly similar to #Ginkgoites, but often more divided with narrower lobes.
Oh, and also a few #dragons.

Some ginkgoale #leaves could get BIG! This is #Baiera simmondsi from the Late #Triassic of Australia; its leaf is about a foot across and has almost 50 ultimate lobes. This is the largest ginkgoale leaf I've come across so far.
