ITS OFFICIALLY #paleoctober 2025!
I had a lot more time to draw this guy than I typically had to draw any given prompt last year, but I mostly used that time to experiment with stuff and figure out linux driver bs with my tablet.
Also my initial reference for the skeleton apparently had a ridiculously inaccurate skull, so that was fun.

Haven't posted here in a LONG time, but I want to fix that. Starting with this year's #Paleoctober ! A personal art challenge that I've been doing for the past two years where I'll drum up a list of prehistoric animals, randomly assign them to a day of the month and try to draw one each day.

To my knowledge I'm still the only person that takes part in this, and if I was smart I would've posted about this in advance to give people time to prep, but I hugely encourage people to take part if want

What is that sound?
It’s FINALLY the sound of this year’s #Paleoctober in barging in!
One simple rule: each day, you will draw an extinct species, and explore the tree of life in the process.
Don’t forget to use the hashtag #Paleoctober2025 so that I can boost!
Good luck!

We're near the end of the #Paleoctober stream preparation!!
This time, with an informative PDF to help you with your #paleoart #artchallenge researches!
Are you excited?
Are you ready to follow the stream this week or see it on YouTube??
Will you down this energy drink to finish faster???
For me, YES, YES, and YES
The #Paleoctober challenge will be back this year!
Will be posted before the 1st of October so you have time to research before grabbing your pencils and your tablets 👌

Today's collection of #leaf sketches. This time, they're all (more or less) #Baiera, a leaf which was incredibly similar to #Ginkgoites, but often more divided with narrower lobes.
Oh, and also a few #dragons.

This tweet will never have much reach because it includes a dreaded ✨link✨ (Twitter hates external links), but I’ve made a page on my website to showcase this year’s (and previous years’) #paleoctober list, in case you lose it!

Very good infographics on what Ptychodus probably really looked like⬇️
Thank you again!

I've still seen many people reconstruct Ptychodus as a benthic cartilaginous fish with spiny fins that looks like a hybodont or bullhead shark. That's not how Ptychodus looked like!

Just realized that with
🔸Ptychodus (a shark),
🔸Euproops (horseshoe crab),
🔸Metriorhynchus (marine croc)
🔸and Opabinia (Burgess shale weirdo),
the first week of #Paleoctober kind of feels like:
