Hello #linux #archlinux community!
Please share your observations on CPU frequency management and battery life.
Here are mine. On ArchLinux, I tested TLP, PPD, and auto-cpufreq — all with default settings:

TLP (default): Occasionally causes freezes. No noticeable battery life improvement. Consumption: 0.28%/min.

PPD (Power Profiles Daemon, Power Saver mode): Most consistent behavior. Battery usage: 0.26%/min.

Hey @gyptazy
Nice feature indeed.

I use linux-cpupower with a “Governer” variable in crontab. From there I call the script like:

at night
./powermanager.sh powersave

on working hours
./powermanager.sh performance

I make use of #autocpufreq

I even shut down VM's when not needed and start again with the ha-manager in Crontab like:

# Stop Gotify VM 2015
30 9 * * * /usr/sbin/ha-manager set 2015 --state disabled && /usr/sbin/pct shutdown 2015

and when needed again:
# Start Gotify VM 2015
30 23 * * * /usr/sbin/pct start 2015 && /usr/sbin/ha-manager set 2015 --state enabled

Lot's of fun things to do with proxmox.

@midtsveen We sould give this guy some support, btw. I can't do it, because I don't have a credit cart...

@midtsveen auto-cpufreq works usually great! I always install it with the `git clone` command, that works the best.

It automatically switches into energy saving mode when you disconnect the charger, and the other way round as well.

I also use it on desktops, because it doesn't hurt throttling down the CPU when it is not in active use.
