I'd rather just buy a physical CD or pay one-time for a FLAC from the artist instead.

[Same]( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsdzaEVeFEE) with #DVD. but #BluRay is even worse due to it's amped-up #DRM... - Also why is there no off-the-shelf #BDXL player that can just play every #BD & #DVD *regardless of region*? - Cuz believe it or not, some folks may even own a [Region 8 DVD](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code#Region_codes_and_countries) or have moved continents. You know how fucking hard and expensive it is to do the whole player importation thing??? - Noone should be forced to buy 3 blu-ray players just to be able to play discs they physically own!

Speaking of my exfiltrated #music collection and #tunetuesday #ripandtear:

Most of the old music collection is actually in #OggVorbis format. I'm wondering if I should re-rip bunch of my #audiocds to #FLAC and re-encode them with #Opus codec.

...oh and there's actually a big pile of CDs that I've not ripped *at all!* ...it's near the end of the blessed year 2025 and guess I'll need to get me a CD ripper application, would you believe that. Hmm, I have an USB DVD drive for my laptop, but I'm kinda glad I didn't remove the DVD drive from the old junk PC, actually. Bet the CD ripper sitch and batch processing is still better on Linux.

Also the old exfiltrated collection doesn't have a whooole lot of recent #iTunes purchases either. And a bunch of #Steam game soundtracks. And...

...jeez, I've got a bunch of work ahead of me with this collection, don't I?

Well, since I have recently been rediscovering my love for #audioCDs, and I really like #mpd and its clients (particularly #Cantata and #Ymuse), it is more of an annoying problem than anything else.

If I'm motivated, maybe this weekend I'll try to find its origin and solve it.

Me: Oh yay! I found my box of #audioCDs!

Also Me: how do I rip a #CD again?
