That sounds about right. ๐
Honestly, that's what I enjoy most about #TuneTuesday. Every week I end up discovering artists and songs I would have never found on my own.
Long live the Fediverse ๐
That's a fantastic idea!
What caught my attention in the data is that participation keeps growing while the average posts per participant stays remarkably stable. That suggests a recurring community event rather than a typical social media trend.
Following #TuneTuesday week-to-week could reveal some really interesting patterns:
๐ต Core participants vs newcomers
๐ต How themes influence participation
๐ต Genre diversity over time
๐ต Engagement patterns across different communities
I originally started this as a fun trend analysis project, but now you've got me thinking about a longitudinal study. ๐๐ถ
Jupiter and Venus can be seen pretty easily in the night sky and according to my NightSky app Mercury is nearby as well.
It's one of the really neat things about being this far away from Houston is that we can see a few more stars than before.
But with Jupiter and Venus up there bumpin' and grindin' it reminded of this song by the long defunct Austin-based band The Hudsons.
#TuneTuesday

I analyzed 119 posts from this week's #TuneTuesday on Mastodon.
The numbers aren't huge:
๐ต 119 posts
๐ฅ 76 unique participants
โค๏ธ 140 favorites
๐ 247 boosts
๐ฌ 44 replies
But that's exactly what makes it interesting.
Most social media trends are driven by a small number of highly visible accounts.
#TuneTuesday looks different.
76 unique authors generated just 119 posts, which means participation is spread across the community rather than concentrated around influencers.
This week's theme (#OdeToTheWall) produced an unexpectedly diverse soundtrack:
๐ธ Classic rock
๐ท Jazz
๐ป Folk
๐น Blues
๐ง Indie
The data also shows:
๐ต "song" mentioned 43 times
๐ต "music" mentioned 41 times
๐บ YouTube links shared 38 times
๐ง Spotify links shared 8 times
People aren't debating.
People aren't doomscrolling.
They're basically showing up once a week to exchange music recommendations with strangers.
From a data science perspective:
High author diversity + low engagement concentration = community participation, not influencer amplification.
The internet could probably use more trends like that.

Since @tc_morekindness hasn't shared it yet...
I recall when I was small
How I spent my days alone
The busy world was not for me
So I went and found my own
I would climb the garden wall
With a candle in my hand
I'd hide inside a hall of rock and sand
...
Before the fall when they wrote it on the wall
When there wasn't even any Hollywood
They heard the call and they wrote it on the wall
For you and me, we understood
