@Crion So I eventually got around to testing out the latest beta17 and it's nice 🤓
The #MPD widget is exactly how I envisaged and works beautifully.
@jloc0 sfwbar is another nice gtk3 bar for your repo. It near on has as many features as the quickshell bars, minus animations, but it can be argued animation is just fluff wasting CPU cycles. I have a slackbuild I'll post shortly.

I have a large local #musiclibrary—mostly #flac with some #m4a. I sync it between my #nas and four computers using #rsync.
Unfortunately, I recently discovered that some files appear to be corrupted, even though I've always checked the rsync logs. 🫢

I'll need to scan the entire library now to see how widespread the damage is. I first noticed something was wrong when a few tracks started skipping mid-song while playing via #mpd / #mpc.

I guess nothing lasts forever—not even music files. 😞

Was looking into MixRamp for proper gapless audio in MPD.

The second review down the page sure came in handy, though. Looks like nobody’s bothered to really fix this tool (let alone come up with a Windows version).

Even found an ancient (and only slightly shady) foobar2000 “DSP” that seems to pick up the MixRamp tags.

So much better—especially for mix and live albums!—than generic crossfades.

Download MixRamp for free. A utility to analyse sound files and print out the volume profile of the start and end. The idea is to embed those profiles in metadata so players can do intelligent mixing between tracks.

Until I can finish setting up the @loveyoumore #radio station with #azuracast, I’ve written a #script that plays out time-based #playlist (s) via #mpc / #mpd locally — and it’s working beautifully so far. 😎

The new #mpd frontend is starting to take shape, however it is really still in the concept phase. Right now all the setup is done with #pyqt6 then it hands over to #quickshell via a Popen() call, where the pid is saved and everything dies (reasonably) gracefully on exit.

What needs to be done is the integration of the QML gui into the python scripts via QtQuick. That will really bring it out of concept and into development 🤓
