New (to me) research library unlocked!

Tangential to the documents I was looking at, I came across the proposal from the 1960s to build an artificial ski slope on Mt Wellington/Maungarei!
This appears to be unknown to the internet, except for an newly digitised article on Papers Past.

Auckland Museum proposes to cut up to 30 jobs after visitor numbers fall and venue hit by asbestos fix costs.
The 30 jobs amount to about 10% of its total workforce and the proposed changes would reduce annual staff costs by around $2.4m a year. Staff had been consulted with and that would continue until September 25

Meet Kave, the principal female deity on Nukuoro, in the Caroline Islands. It’s slightly larger than life size and I found it incredibly striking. I love how much like modern art this feels, despite having come from a remote island in the 1800s. Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Heading home from NZ. Turns out this month is pride month in NZ. I have learned a lot about this country and I have just scratched the surface. Very progressive country.

Went to wine island, did an impromptu steep hike, and did tourist things.
