Bald Eagles are a fairly common sighting in and around the Nature Center, but always a thrill. There are three nesting pairs in the vicinity, so visitors will see adults, fledglings and every molt state as the young birds mature. Members of the Order Accipitriformes - the largest Order of diurnal raptors - Bald Eagles fall in the Accipitridae Family with Hawks and Kites (and other Eagles).

Wonderful to see the interactions between the breeding pairs, and between adults and their fledgling as they train. The fledglings can be a bit clumsy, so it is not unheard of for one to "crash land" in a tree nearby during a hike.
