It worked👍
#linuxmint running on my 15 years old HP laptop w/o UEFI complained about an BIOS error and suggested to ask the BIOS vendor for fixes.
I found the BIOS software for this model which required windows to run.
Hmmmm🤔
This morning I saw a post mentioning #reactos and I thought: wow, lets try it.
After several crashes I removed the mouse, disconnected the second monitor but put the USB stick with the BIOS software in the second USB slot and booted #reactos from the first.
I was finally able to update the BIOS successfully😁
The software came as an .exe file. It contained another .exe file. I unpacked it with #ArchiveManager into a subdirectory so that the directory structure incl. Insydeflash.exe was visible. Put all on an USB stick and called Insydeflash directly. Success👍😁
