[…] Israel’s attack on April 1 on the World Central Kitchen convoy, which killed seven workers, far from being an isolated “mistake,” is just one of at least eight incidents that Human Rights Watch identified in which aid organizations and UN agencies had communicated with Israeli authorities the GPS coordinates of an aid convoy or premises and yet Israeli forces attacked the convoy or shelter without any warning.

Israeli forces have carried out at least eight strikes on aid workers’ convoys and premises in Gaza since October 2023, even though aid groups had provided their coordinates to the Israeli authorities to ensure their protection. Israeli authorities did not issue advance warnings to any of the aid organizations before the strikes.
The darkly ironic thing is that World Central Kitchens was supposed to serve as Biden’s replacement for UNRWA, a private relief effort under the control of the US, instead of the UN. Some Palestinians had even come to view Andrés as a US agent, his group a kind of Blackwater in humanitarian garb. And the Israelis just blew it up: one, two, three. Because any sustained aid to the Palestinians subverts their goal of using starvation to force them to either die or leave Gaza. The arrogance would stun anyone but the benumbed Biden.

Following the targeted Israeli attack on a humanitarian aid convoy yesterday, resulting in the deaths of seven World Central Kitchen workers, Anera is taking the unprecedented step of pausing its humanitarian operations in Gaza.
I've been looking for a way to donate for humanitarian relief to #Gaza, and I think I have found the right organization, #Anera.
According to their website, they have so far provided more than 8.2 million food parcels, veggie baskets and hot meals, have donated 1986 mattresses and blankets, and have set up 5 popup health clinics near shelters.
But beyond the immediate crisis, ANERA has been helping refugees since 1968 in #Jordan, #Lebanon and #palestine

Lebanon hosts the largest number of refugies per capita in the world. For a population of around 5.5 mio, similar to Scotland, there is more than 1.5 mio refugies , that's Glasgow and Edinburgh put together. I've read that 75% of the population has directly experienced armed conflits. Yes, 3 out of 4.
