This headline (and others like it) is kind of misleading. Yes, they were found guilty on the conspiracy charges, however that was the only guilty verdict out of 16 charges for one defendant, while the other was also found guilty of five other charges (using teargas not in self-defense) out of his 16. Everything else came back either not guilty or hung after a week of deliberations.
Ultimately, this is a loss for the district attorney who brought the charges -- and who happens to have close ties with neo-nazis and the fascist group American Guard.
It's worth noting that the two defendants showed up to push back against pro-Trump rioting in the wake of Jan. 6. As far as I know, no one on the fash side caught any charges (contrary to the assertions of Judge Carney in Rob Rundo's case).
The DA tried to rope in a bunch of other antifascists as well, but none of the charges stuck because they were made up and bullshit.
One entertaining line at the end of this article: the judge "ordered White not to associate with anyone 'from antifa' — a demand that elicited quiet laughter from the audience." Cute.
