It's #FruitloafFriday

Backstory - my Dad was an ex baker. He gave it up with baker's emphysema and so I never experienced what it was like to be a baker's son, except at Christmas and Easter, when he'd produce a couple of Dutch fruit loaves. I never learnt his recipe, but this variation is as close as I can get to how his loaves tasted. #AmBaking #breadbaking #breadposting

Nooooo you bastard treacherous fruit!

I coated you in flour and this is the thanks I get?

Dad's recipe fruit cake's in. #AmBaking #tradition

I used to send my piemaking brag-photos to my sister, but she sometimes gets so forlorn about not getting to eat them! So I’ll post here.

Our #HomemadePieOfTheMonth for June (just squeaking in!) is Cherry Custard #Pie from Ken Haedrich’s book Pie Academy.Easy recipe β€” could have been easier still, but I chose to use fresh cherries!

#amBaking

After pitting a bunch of cherries, I paused baking prep to go (re-) purchase an ingredient, and almost forgot to wash my forearms as well as my hands. Best not to go out in public wearing a subtle blood spatter effect. 😬

Lemon cake with lemon glaze and a dusting of powdered sugar. #AmBaking

May’s Homemade #Pie of the Month (somewhat last minute!) is Blueberry Banana Pudding Pie from the #cookbook Justice of the Pies by Maya-Camille Broussard. I haven’t made many pudding pies before and this one defied my expectations: a sweet but complex combination of flavors!

#HomemadePieOfTheMonth #AmBaking

The sheer exasperation of trying a new recipe that is fussy, uses 3 kitchen appliances, and leaves vast windrows of dirty dishes…and finding that it is quite delicious and I definitely will want to eat it again in future. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I think it might be an OK loaf of bread. #breadposting #ambaking
