The Scottish National Portrait Gallery has a remarkable exhibition of Alfred Buckham's pioneering early aerial photography, including many over 1920s #Edinburgh , & this fascinating book accompanies it.

There's also an amazing section on an expedition around the Americas, sponsored by a photo-magazine of the time, with pics flying over the Andes, live volcanoes and Manhattan from the air in 1931, the brand-new Empire State building just added to her skyline.

Astonishing early (1920s & 30s) pioneering aerial photography of #Edinburgh , & an amazing set from a flying expedition across the Americas, from overflying active volcanoes in South America, to Manhattan from the air, right after the Empire State was completed.
