"I believe I can fly..."

The Scottish National Portrait Gallery has a remarkable exhibition of Alfred Buckham's pioneering early aerial photography, including many over 1920s #Edinburgh , & this fascinating book accompanies it.

There's also an amazing section on an expedition around the Americas, sponsored by a photo-magazine of the time, with pics flying over the Andes, live volcanoes and Manhattan from the air in 1931, the brand-new Empire State building just added to her skyline.

The exhibition runs until mid-April: https://www.nationalgalleries.org/exhibition/alfred-buckham-daredevil-photographer

Last exhibition/art recommendation (for now!). Andy Goldsworthy at the National Galleries at the Mound (Edinburgh). A must see... although I'd hoped there would be more photos of his larger outdoor stone installations. I'll still definitely go again though!

How copyright chaos reigns among the UK’s top cultural institutions

The perennial attempts to widen the reach of copyright in the pursuit of yet more revenue is something that is to be expected from companies.
