SIP Level 2 begins on 03/20/26 and invites licensed and pre licensed mental health professionals into a learning environment shaped by multidisciplinary, inter spiritual, and multi racial community. This training supports counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, pastoral counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and graduate students who wish to deepen their understanding of how spirituality, religion, and meaning making influence their clinical work. Participants engage in a curriculum grounded in ACPE values of diversity and inclusion, integrity, curiosity, process, and service.

The Level 2 sequence builds on foundational study by offering deeper work in spiritual interventions, harmful religion, therapist belief systems, and spiritually integrated case conceptualization. Learning occurs through interactive seminars, role plays, small group work, and case illustrations that support growth in clinical judgment, self awareness, and the use of spiritual assessment.

Instructors Beth Toler, Tere Canzoneri, and Melissa Lemons bring decades of clinical, academic, and pastoral experience. Beth integrates psychotherapy, theology, and spirituality through a systemic, trauma informed lens. Tere draws from psychodynamic and systems theory, mindfulness, and cross cultural formation to support reflective practice. Melissa brings relational, holistic clinical expertise shaped by counseling, higher education, and pastoral leadership. Their combined experience strengthens the learning environment and supports participants in building ethically grounded and spiritually attuned clinical skills.

This Level 2 training offers an opportunity to refine interventions, explore the therapist’s own spiritual formation, and practice constructing spiritually integrated case conceptualizations that attend to both client resources and struggles.

Deepening our Roots: Nurturing the Soul and Growing in Connection meets April 24 to 26, 2025 at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum, Maryland. This retreat invites therapists, chaplains, clergy, spiritual directors, educators, and other practitioners who feel drawn toward reflective and integrative work. The retreat is designed around reflective dialogue, experiential practices, embodied exploration, and meaningful community connection. We will explore deepening inner awareness, strengthening relational roots, honoring cultural and #spiritual diversity, practicing embodied presence, fostering professional sustainability, engaging in shared learning and reflection, and growing together in a sense of belonging.

SIP Training Level 1 begins on 02/19/26 and addresses spiritually integrated interventions

SIP Training Level 1 begins on 02/19/26 and addresses spiritually integrated interventions that help clients draw upon spiritual resources for stabilization, resilience, and change. Participants learn how to help clients deepen existing resources, reconnect with forgotten sources of meaning, and develop new spiritual supports when appropriate.

The curriculum also addresses spiritual struggles, including loss of meaning, conflict with belief systems, and anger related to faith or religious communities. The training offers ethical strategies for supporting clients through these experiences.

Learning takes place through interactive seminars, role plays, and case examples that support practical application. The training reflects ACPE core values of diversity, curiosity, integrity, process, and service.

Starting on 02/19/26, SIP Training Level 1 supports clinicians seeking to integrate spirituality into psychotherapy with thoughtfulness, ethical sensitivity, and respect for client diversity.
