via Alberta Law Foundation:

Bill 39 should be a wake-up call for Alberta’s legal community. It proposes adding political control over major grants, and cuts funding for Legal Aid—push the burden to the Alberta Law Foundation. This isn’t about efficiencies. It’s about who decides how legal services are funded, and who gets left out when those decisions are politicized. We have a responsibility to speak out.Contact your MLA: action.albertalawfoundation.org

Wow. 😳😳😳 Field Law represented the first years of my case against the public school board that fired me for being #trans.

I felt they did a good job, so I am inferring that this guy never came close to my case.

Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Alberta Trans Studies Teach-In. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.

On January 31st, Danielle Smith announced a slew of new gender and sexuality policies focused on education, healthcare, and sport. Under the guise of “preserving choice” for kids and “extending care” for adults, these policies will directly and negatively impact children, youth, and our students in the immediate future. The Teach-In will feature trans studies scholars and experts in the fields of education, healthcare, and sport who will engage with attendees to dispel mis/disinformation, explore the impact of the policies on communities, interrogate the rhetoric used by the UCP, and to explain the larger context in which these policies emerge. This event is hosted by the Qritical: queer + trans research hub at Mount Royal University. Confirmed participants include: ~ Florence Ashley, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, Adjunct Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta ~ Jamie Anderson, PhD Candidate, Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary ~ William Bridel, Associate Dean (Academic) and Associate Professor, Faculty of Kinesiology ~ Eva Lagare, Registered Nurse and MRU Alumnus ~ Zack Marshall, Associate Professor, Department of Community Health Sciences, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary ~ Kristopher Wells, Canada Research Chair for the Public Understanding of Sexual and Gender Minority Youth, MacEwan University ~ Tobias Wiggins, Assistant Professor, Women's & Gender Studies, Athabasca University ~JJ Wright, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies, MacEwan University Moderated by Corinne L.
