This is not insanity. It is pure #Dementia.

My mom & other relatives have had #Alzheimers. I'm seeing the same thing now.

Those #39minutes of swaying happened because his very-limited memory focus was interrupted by audience emergencies. He initially forgot what he wanted to say. Then, he heard the music, and his brain latched onto that. Before long, he even lost why he was there.

Music doesn't leave the memory. When all else disappears, music offers respite & comfort. So the patient retreats into music (and might sway or dance) if it's playing, when they lose track of everything else.

Look at his face. He's lost and confused. The interviewer reacted like a visitor at an Alzheimers ward.

She recognizes it. She KNOWS.

"Let's do what the patient wants, in order to keep them happy, and not try to keep them on task." Don't challenge the memory loss when it manifests, just go where the patient goes, to avoid anger & argument... 1/2🧵
