The mood in Italy, as of the end of 2025, wasn't particularly bright. Then, 38 percent of Italians (especially men and the middle class) had some hope for an improving new year. Three months later, as of the end of March, the optimists had fallen to 22 percent, while the pessimists had risen from 62 percent in December to 77 percent today.
