Feeling yellow, feeling blue

A warm sunny sunset by the sea is clearly there to be enjoyed, being a bird or not.

The kāruhiruhi, as the Māori calls this pied shag cormorant, is a medium sized bird and spread around all of Zealandia and Oz. It is pretty used to humans and allow us to observe it without too much fuzz.

Like this fellow on the shore of Kaikōura, South Island, Aotearoa New Zealand.

Don't we all need the weekend off after a week working hard in dirt?

The determination and stern look on this guy is close to how a lot of people feel after a hard week. Or a hard day's night.

The purple swamphen, pukeko in maori, is a colourful abundancy in New Zealand. With some variations, it is found everywhere near water. It is considered a pest by some farmers since it eats any green seedlings, and it soil water throughs for the farm animal.

Sometimes it even eats other birds’ chicks.

It is a social bird, often living in family groups were the eggs of all the females are laid in one nest. The chicks get raised by the group.

It is also a bit noisy, but the sound of it near lodgings somehow become a homey symbol when spending some time in rural New Zealand.

And then we have the senior tourists slouching on the bench. Sensible to do after a day exploring Hanoi.

Everything is what it should be, at an evening by the most famous city lake in Hanoi.

Hoan Kiem lake, also known as “(Lost) Sword Lake", are in the shopping and sightseeing center of Hanoi. The political capital of PR Viet Nam is a large city, with rivers, channels and lakes, but Hoan Kiem is the lake you have to visit.

It is not a tourist trap, as it attracts vietnamese as well as tourists and internationals all day and evening.

In the south end, several old gates frames couple taking their wedding pictures. In the center, an old temple, near the north side an old pagoda. Around it, heavy traffic.

And in the evening, soft light and people relaxing together after a long day.

Tranquility, Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi

A quiet spot in a big city.

It is the most famous city lake in Hanoi, Hoan Kiem Lake, and it offers peace too. Even if the rest of the area is bustling with activity in the evening.

The city lake of Hanoi is one of my favorite spots in Southeast Asia, particular in the evening when people are using it as a social arena. Both by locals and visitors. It is a place to meet, greet, eat and drink, and to read, quietly observe or seeking inner peace. The park and the lake is big enough even for rather peaceful activities.

The area around the lake is already used for morning classes and individuals doing Tai Chi.

And now meditating people is adding to their numbers mornings and evening.

The concept of meditating in public spots has been on the rise the later years, according to local media.

Getting a memory for life at Tháp Hòa Phong, four favourable winds tower

Hoa Phong Tower, Tháp Hòa Phong, at the southeast end of Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi is where you spot current bridal fashion in Viet Nam.
The ladies here are already engaged, of course. But it is a happy spot flourishing with photographers, their assistants, equipment, and some very happy looking ladies in bridal costumes.
And some grooms-to-be, waiting to get ordered around by all the others.
They probably need this general rehearsal in preparation for their new life. directions.
Favourable winds for life ahead
The tower is the only remains of the Bao An pagoda-complex situated on this spot. This was in the historical centre of Old Hanoi.
Hoa Phong means 4-season favourable winds, the tower having four gates looking in four directions. No wonder this is considered a fortunate spot to start a marriage.
