A ★★★½ review of 10 Rillington Place (1971)
Film #17 of Hooptober X: In SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACE Thrillers based on true crime events can be dicey propositions for a number of reasons. To start with, you’re playing with actual events and dramatizing the real-life crimes perpetuated onto victims. There’s any number of reasons to be concerned about whether the film is going to handle those events properly and with respect. The filmmakers have to balance that potential concern with making a film with enough thrills and chills to satisfy on an entertainment level. Frankly, it isn’t easy. That’s why it’s so impressive when a film like 10 Rillington Place manages
