UK friends! This week, you can pre-order ETERNITY’S TOMB at 20% off *and* support local independent bookstores by using code PREORDER20 over at Bookshop.org! Why would you not? It’s a no-brainer! (Well, technically there is a brain in the book.) https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/eternity-s-tomb-dan-moren/2f1df51143d9bb6d?ean=9781915998026&next=t
I needed a way to put drones on a map. Drone vendors seem to make this difficult to do natively. So I wrote up a Python application to sniff RemoteID broadcasts and write those to a #CalTopo map. Initial release is pretty basic, but does the job. https://github.com/heytensai/remoteid-caltopo-tracker

I created a #Meshtastic to #CalTopo bridge in Python so I can slap a mesh tracker on my drone and record its location on a map. https://github.com/heytensai/meshtastic-caltopo-tracker

What happens when a motley group of thieves sets out to rob an ancient spacefaring tomb before it falls into a black hole? Find out this November in ETERNITY’S TOMB. https://dmoren.com/writing/eternitys-tomb/

OMG I’m *very* tempted to rewrite all my YAML automations for Home Assistant using this: https://github.com/adanowitz/HASSL 🤩

I signed up for Kagi, after a long time considering it. So far I like it a lot and look forward to using a service that caters to me and not to advertisers. I'm curious to see how many searches I do per day. They say the typical user makes about 3 searches per day, but that seems way low for me.
Don't ever subscribe to Lemmy from Mastodon. I unsubscribed but I'm still getting posts in my feed. It's bizarre.
Followed the guide to set up #HomeAssistant encrypted backups to Google Drive and everything went smoothly, except it took Google a few hours to enable API access (something the docs do cover). And I've got local unencrypted backups. I like this new backup system.
A little milestone reached with 20k people downloading the latest version of Battery Notes for #HomeAssistant
True usage stats are impossible but this is the figure used in HACS to indicate popularity.
Never thought I’d reach this sort of usage when I first created it but it’s been great receiving lots of positive feedback and ideas for improving it.
It does also make me very nervous releasing new versions in case I break something.
