@fantasyanime @buru5 Most websites would be better if they looked like 2003. We got some really awesome stuff since then. Unfortunately, most of it is abused to make websites more frustrating to use.

@buru5 And without spamming like a thousand posts...

I maintain an archive of Zelda Fan Sites, new and old.

A simple list of resources for all Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre games.

Zelda Universe has 20+ years of original Zelda content.

And finally, RPGFan is still here! More than 25 years of volunteer RPG coverage. I've only been writing for them for a few years, and it's an awesome crew.

Zelda Archive

An archive of The Legend of Zelda fan sites and projects, both new and old. A record of more than 20 years of Zelda community history!

@buru5 I'm also going to take this opportunity to share my passion projects.

I've been building this love letter to one of my favorite games of all time since mid-2020. Lockdown gave me an opportunity to launch something I had been hoping to do for over a decade.

@buru5 Folks fall into the trap of thinking that all of their hobbies or interests need to be monetized.

I treat web design as a hobby. It's something I enjoy to relax and to teach myself new skills. It wouldn't be as enjoyable if I was always worried about chasing a trend to keep the site profitable.

Earning money is awesome, but find something you enjoy and do it just for fun (and maybe make that thing building small websites so that we have more cool stuff to see on the Web).

@buru5 Social media happened. Before social media took off, if you wanted to share anything on the Web, you needed a website.

When we were passionate about a topic (like a video game), the default answer was to build a fan site to share your passion. Now, the default answer is to join YouTube, Instagram, and Tiktok.

I still default to websites. I love controlling my creative space and not being subject to the whims of a corporation.

@SinclairSpeccy Despite the leadership being clueless, Mozilla is still worth supporting.

The alternative is that Google controls the entire web. Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Sidekick, Opera... they're all just Chrome with a slightly different UI.

January was a busy gaming month for me. I replayed two of my favorite videos games. A Link to the Past is my favorite game of all time, and I love Chrono Trigger but I had gone far too long (at least 15 years) without finishing it.

The SAO game was surprisingly fun.

I love the original Trace Memory/Another Code for DS and playing the remake was exciting. I enjoyed it. I also reviewed it; I'll have to post that article here sometime soon. 😊

After being with Mozilla for a little over 5 years, I've been laid off today, alongside a group of some of my favorite people. So, I'm on the job market! I've got ~8 years #iOS, #Swift, and #ObjC under my belt, working on everything from libraries all the way through full user-facing features. So, I'm #opentowork. Remote (US), working out of the Chicagoland area. 👀 LinkedIn in bio. Boosts would be much appreciated!
@leaverou I envy the new students. Unlearning things I learned 20 years ago has proven far more difficult than learning all the new cool stuff.
