January was a busy gaming month for me. I replayed two of my favorite videos games. A Link to the Past is my favorite game of all time, and I love Chrono Trigger but I had gone far too long (at least 15 years) without finishing it.

The SAO game was surprisingly fun.

I love the original Trace Memory/Another Code for DS and playing the remake was exciting. I enjoyed it. I also reviewed it; I'll have to post that article here sometime soon. 😊

After being with Mozilla for a little over 5 years, I've been laid off today, alongside a group of some of my favorite people. So, I'm on the job market! I've got ~8 years #iOS, #Swift, and #ObjC under my belt, working on everything from libraries all the way through full user-facing features. So, I'm #opentowork. Remote (US), working out of the Chicagoland area. 👀 LinkedIn in bio. Boosts would be much appreciated!

Hey folks. I stepped away from almost all of my social media accounts for a while, but I'm adding Mastodon back into my routine - so hiatus is over. 😁

I'll share some gaming notes about what I've been up to since New Year's, and I'm working on some articles and fun web design things to share this year.

Videoverse Review | RPGFan

Videoverse has to be one of the most authentic time travel pieces of media I've ever experienced, pulling me back to my tender teenage years.

the "new game+" concept didn't just come out of nowhere. this is a real thing that happens when you die.
Apparently, this was #22. 🤦‍♂️

Games I Completed in 2023 #23:
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Last time I played Phantom Hourglass, I played on WiiU, was live streaming the entire game, and I focused primarily on the main quest.

This time I went back to DS hardware and made sure to do side content. It's still among my least favorite Zelda games, but it's mostly because the others are so good rather than this one being bad.

I had a good time replaying it.

Games I Completed in 2023 #23:
Fire Emblem: Engage

Extremely predictable story, pointless base building minigame nonsense (that is thankfully optional) - and some of the best tactics game mechanics I have ever encountered.

The great parts about Engage far outweigh it's mediocre writing. I hope the future of the Fire Emblem series doesn't dumb down the mechanics. This is one of the best strategy games ever made.

Easily my favorite Fire Emblem game.
