I don't know how you got here, either.

I pretend to make IT work for other people during the day, I pretend to make IT work for myself at night.

Sometimes I pretend to know what I'm doing.
@w I also got annoyed that the .monster TLD is blocked by certain firewalls that I have to sit behind but don't have admin rights to
I'm going to be retiring fediverse.monster and moving to snac2 @w by the end of the month. If you want to keep following my posts for some reason, that's the place to do it.

I have nothing against Pleroma or anything. It works well, but it's more than I really need.

I've been playing with snac (https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2) over at 11n.org. I haven't decided if I'm going to move over to it yet, but it's got a lot fewer moving parts than Pleroma does, which is nice.

I updated #debian on my laptop and the nvidia kernel module failed to update itself. I rebooted and the kernel panics immediately. This is unpleasant

My new favorite correction.

Google announced that starting in June 2024, ad blockers such as uBlock Origin #uBO will be disabled in Chrome 127 and later with the rollout of Manifest V3 (#Mv3).

The new #Chrome manifest will prevent using custom filters and stops on demand updates of blocklist. Only #Google authorized updates to browser extension will be allowed in the future, which mean an automatic win for Google in their battle to stop YouTube #AdBlockers .

#ManifestV3 is deceitful and threatening to your privacy, and now is a good time to switch to #Firefox (@mozilla) and/or #TorBrowser (@torproject) if you haven't done so already!

Chrome Manifest V3 Transition Timeline (2023-11-16)

EDIT for clarification: MV3 in Chrome will still allow some ad blocking extensions, but will severely limit their blocking ability and even restricts pre-set filters to 50 MAX.

Chrome Users Beware: Manifest V3 is Deceitful and Threatening

Like FLoC and Privacy Sandbox before it, Google Chrome’s Manifest V3 is another example of the inherent conflict of interest that comes from Google controlling both the dominant web browser and one of the largest internet advertising networks.

There was a Hacker News post that reminded me that I should donate more often to the free software projects I use, but it's amazing how many of them make it more difficult than it should be.

If you want to throw a few dollars at #Debian, for example, you don't click on the 'contribute' link that's prominently on their homepage, you click on one of two 'More...' links, then 'donations', *then* the link to SPI, and *then* you finally get to click on a button that lets you donate.
I wonder how some of these point values were assigned #ironsword #nes #videogames
I had some bored time at work recently, so I cleaned up some of the XML and XSLT that I wrote for https://wyrm.org and put it up on Github: https://github.com/zmodemorg/wyrm.org/

I have no love for #Github nor do I plan on learning git any time soon, but I figured that would be the place most likely for someone to accidentally discover it
