Apple love to preach "the UI gets out of the way of your content" with each new redesign, but how true is that in practice? Let's compare the total height of the Safari UI with a toolbar, favourites bar and tab bar visible, across the three latest Mac OS design languages â Yosemite, Big Sur and now Tahoe. I've added a red line for emphasis.
It sure looks to me like the UI is eating more into my content with each redesign.

I made something!
A little - and still very unpolished - tool to create text extraction rules for Fiery Feeds and Five Filters. Click interface for selecting elements, a simple rules editor and a preview of the extracted content using FIery Feeds' text engine.
I'll write a blog post and make this more "official" once Fiery Feeds 2.13 with the improved text engine is out too.

(I've though a lot about way to go about it, but there's no good way to slice the switch to SwiftUI up into different parts. So I'm keeping the data layer, but I'll completely rewrite the entire UI over the next year or so.
We'll see how long it take to get back to a somewhat useable state, even with a lot of missing features, but I don't really see another way to do it.)
