#Retrocomputing and #retrogaming enthusiast, amateur voice actor, #amateurradio operator, #3Dprinting enthusiast and weather geek.

Started in Jr High School using an Apple II+, but my parents could never afford one, so I ended up with Commodores instead!

Collection includes Apple, Commodore, Sinclair and Atari - whichever one I'm using depends on my whim at the moment... I also have an interest in things analog, including fountain pens, pencils, notebooks and journalling.

Oh, and if you've sent a print job to zone Pikes Peak over the last week, could I trouble you to send it again? Had a brain fart and didn't have the printer enabled, so I lost those first few print jobs (doh!) #MARCHintosh #GlobalTalk

It’s working! Please disregard the bad cable management, that’s my next task…here’s my #MARCHintosh configuration:

- PowerBook 5300ce running System 7.6.1, AIR and Simple Spooler
- iMac G3 running Mac OS 9.2
- ImageWriter II printer

@_the_cloud It looks like my Globaltalk file share is working perfectly (including the one on the adjacent iMac on the same EtherTalk network, yay!) but I'm having printing issues with SimpleSpooler. The log shows that print jobs were received, but nothing actually got printed. Any recommendations on where to begin troubleshooting? #MARCHintosh #GlobalTalk
Well, was going to jump back into #MARCHintosh activities again this evening, but the neighbor's house up the street caught fire. Fortunately, it sounds like no one's hurt, but a lot of public safety activity in the neighborhood tonight.

Well, I think I've gone as far tonight as I can... my brain is starting to fizzle out. I think I have the file share working, as well as the Imagewriter thanks to @_the_cloud recommending his Simple Spooler app to make it work.

If you have a chance, please feel free to drop by and give it a try, I'm at zone Pikes Peak at globaltalk.virtualoak.net. #MARCHintosh #GlobalTalk

Two steps forward, one step back… went to add the ImageWriter II, which is connected via PhoneNet to the PowerBook, and when I started the router I got this. Printer worked ok on initial test when LocalTalk Built In selected in the network control panel, but not when I switch to Ether Talk and start the router. I feel like I’m missing something obvious, but I’m not sure what…. #MARCHintosh #GlobalTalk
Running a little behind getting ready for #MARCHintosh ... this past week has been a bit chaotic and stressful. Hoping to get the Powerbook and ImageWriter up on #GlobalTalk sometime tomorrow, with some content to follow shortly after that. Looking forward to meeting everyone (virtually)!

Introducing my first #MARCHintosh project - #GlobalTalk Chat 1.0! The AppleTalk-native (no TCP/IP) chat system, now re-written from the ground-up as a native Mac Toolbox application in C.

You can get it NOW on “Blackbird” or “landisk” in the “BaroNet” zone on GlobalTalk.

Happy New #MARCHintosh!

This is my third #MARCHintosh, and, unlike last year, I’m not particularly well-prepared.

I do have many thoughts, however, and some news on WOzFest 43 later this month (and the others this year).

After the successful launch of my Apple Internet Router Administrator’s Guide—Addendum last year, I am planning on some updates with new tools having been released, and perhaps covering more emulation options for getting on GlobalTalk.

For the third year running, I’ll work on my GlobalTalk/AIR disk image sets, adding more applications to the installer image.

To extend my printer offerings (Brother printer and virtual PDF printer via CUPS, netatalk, and LaserWriter drivers) I will be experimenting with the two virtual ImageWriter solutions which have been developed by Ken McCloud and Paul Rickards – the PDF output from these is more dot-matrix like than the virtual PDF via LaserWriter driver could ever be, so definitely gives a retro vibe.

I do still have my “secret project” in mind, but may or may not work on it this year. If I do, I’ll definitely crowdsource the next stage, as it’s proving quite hard for me to find the time to do by myself.

Towards the end of the month, I’ll be holding WOzFest 43 – this year’s schedule is:

WOzFest 43: 28 March 2026 – Apple 50th Anniversary Celebration
WOzFest 44: 23 May 2026
WOzFest 45: 25 July 2026
WOzFest 46: 26 September 2026
WOzFest 47: 28 November 2026

This may be a joint event with the Australian Computer Museum Society, as they’re likely to also be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Apple (on 1 April). If it is, it’ll be the first “full” WOzFest which is offsite from WOzFest HQ.

I’ll mostly be posting on Mastodon, with the #MARCHintosh and #GlobalTalk hashtags, with maybe some update here.
