@ctb31 gotta figure out why your zone isn’t seeing/being seen by #WOzFest HQ.

@_the_cloud I’m playing with it on the #WOzFest HQ zone – I had a failed print job on Saturday (I may have shut the server down, will check that later), but I can’t see the details shown in the Log window as they’re not preserved.

Feature request: can we get a log text file created capped at SimpleText’s maximum text file size showing Log entries? Then I could have seen which IP sent it as it received >50k of data, so would have gotten to the “Spooling to file” line.

Thanks again for this!

#GlobalTalk #MARCHintosh

@decryption I’m thinking of remaking it as an SVG with vector type (and regenerated unblurry icons), so I’ll let you know.

I may commission a batch for #WOzFest 43 in 3 weeks.

#MARCHintosh 2026 Kickoff, Plans

Happy New #MARCHintosh!

This is my third #MARCHintosh, and, unlike last year, I’m not particularly well-prepared.

I do have many thoughts, however, and some news on WOzFest 43 later this month (and the others this year).

After the successful launch of my Apple Internet Router Administrator’s Guide—Addendum last year, I am planning on some updates with new tools having been released, and perhaps covering more emulation options for getting on GlobalTalk.

For the third year running, I’ll work on my GlobalTalk/AIR disk image sets, adding more applications to the installer image.

To extend my printer offerings (Brother printer and virtual PDF printer via CUPS, netatalk, and LaserWriter drivers) I will be experimenting with the two virtual ImageWriter solutions which have been developed by Ken McCloud and Paul Rickards – the PDF output from these is more dot-matrix like than the virtual PDF via LaserWriter driver could ever be, so definitely gives a retro vibe.

I do still have my “secret project” in mind, but may or may not work on it this year. If I do, I’ll definitely crowdsource the next stage, as it’s proving quite hard for me to find the time to do by myself.

Towards the end of the month, I’ll be holding WOzFest 43 – this year’s schedule is:

WOzFest 43: 28 March 2026 – Apple 50th Anniversary Celebration
WOzFest 44: 23 May 2026
WOzFest 45: 25 July 2026
WOzFest 46: 26 September 2026
WOzFest 47: 28 November 2026

This may be a joint event with the Australian Computer Museum Society, as they’re likely to also be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Apple (on 1 April). If it is, it’ll be the first “full” WOzFest which is offsite from WOzFest HQ.

I’ll mostly be posting on Mastodon, with the #MARCHintosh and #GlobalTalk hashtags, with maybe some update here.

@likesoldmacs #WOzFest HQ says “Hi!” 👋🏻
@RToD sorry for delay, sleeping – not there ATM from #WOzFest HQ or AIRAGA zones.

@kalleboo I’m one of _these_ retro nerds, my systems are (currently) all virtual, except my modern Brother printer (I am, unsurprisingly, an Apple ][ guy). I also have a CUPS-based Print to PDF “printer”.

Last year, I spent a lot of time developing virtual machine resources to simplify getting online (some of which which can be [and were] used to get real hardware connected, too [think pre-populated disk images]).

Last year, I put received print jobs on a roller blind in #WOzFest HQ (aka The Man Cave) – I think I received more this year, but real life was seriously intruding right about then.

I also raised funds last year to buy an original boxed copy of the backbone of #GlobalTalk – Apple Internet Router – which I’ll be donating to the Australian Computer Museum.

This year’s major project was scanning the AIR manual and creating an addendum about GlobalTalk, see https://blog.europlus.zone/resources/air-admins-guide-addendum-and-globaltalk-setup-files-v1-0-4-released-for-marchintosh-2025/

Check out the GlobalTalk tag on my blog, too:

I’m already planning some things for next year, and my zones have (mostly) stayed online (old systems crash, doncha know?!).

All this to say…join us…JOIN US…

OK, mucking around with the Ubuntu machine which hosts the #WOzFest HQ #GlobalTalk AIR system has resulted in it falling off the perch.

It’s *just* inconvenient enough for me to say “Sod it, I’ll deal with it on Saturday”, when I’m actually next planned to be at WOzFest HQ (for WOzFest 42).

I hope I figure out the question.

@nygl my Router Logs in Preferences are about 200-300K, as I’m using MacTCP v1.1.1 on #WOzFest and AIRAGA AIR machines. I’ve seen a 14MB one from a v2 machine.

I’m wondering if there’s some way to trim it (AppleScript to wipe it in Startup Items?)

Facilities upgrade notice for #WOzFest HQ – new cider refrigeration infrastructure successfully installed today, with lots of help and moving equipment from @Roughana – he’s a good kid, and has earned himself a year’s supply of WOzFest beers!
