I grew up on 8bit and 16bit machines, starting with an IBM AT at home and an Apple IIe at school. Later I ran DOS, Windows 3.1, OS/2, Windows 95/98, and Linux at home on various PC machines and 68k Macs at school. I also worked with various UNIX flavors over the years. These days I manage a software team.

My interests include: embedded software, electronics, retro computing, old macs, and ham radio (JJ1OKA / NU8W).

I live in Tokyo, Japan.

@acsawdey Yeah, this is 3.1, which they had rebranded as Apple Workgroup Server 95, apparently. It says A/UX everywhere else. Now I'm just waiting for my AAUI Ethernet dongle so I can get it plugged into the network.

Thanks to @BlueSCSI and @KayKoba my new #Mac #Quadra 700 is booting up! I transferred my A/UX image from the emulator, and it appears to be booting up ok, but I'm sure there are bound to be some hiccups. #retrocomputing #A/UX

A brand new 68k Mac emulator quietly dropped last night!!

“Snow” can emulate the Mac 128k, 512k, Plus, SE, Classic, and II. It supports reading disks from bitstream and flux-floppy images, and offers full execution control and debugging features for the emulated CPU. Written using Rust, it doesn't do any ROM patching or system call interception, instead aiming for accurate hardware-level emulation.

Unfortunately, it looks like I can't enable AppleTalk file sharing on A/UX, or at least not through the GUI.

@vaelen @BlueSCSI @KayKoba That’s awesome.. I had a q700 with a/ux back in the 90’s.

I assume the WGS boot message is because of your a/ux image? Because I recall a more conventional version there like A/UX 3.0.1 or something.
