Back in 2020-2021, I wrote a book about how to survive scary hard times by writing your own stories and getting lost in the imaginary worlds you create.

I feel more than ever that making up stories can help save us and keep us whole.

So this feels like good timing: Never Say You Can't Survive is just $2.99 in ebook formats for just one day.

Deleting your Facebook account is the privilege of those who don’t have kids in school, and don’t have to communicate with groups of people over 40. Instead, maybe we should be working with schools (pre-K through 16) and community organizations to help them find an effective mass communication platform that isn’t run by the worst people on the planet.
Not cool.
@czds @hyounpark Belatedly, ooh, I like that list :D
@flashesofpanic SODA?! my stomach is rebelling at the thought, yikes! But the psychological thing of expecting to be done and then not being done, and then still not being done, especially if you might've been speeding up to finish strong, oh man.
@flashesofpanic Reddit is going nuts about it (apparently how SFGate found out to write the article in the first place, heh). But it's also brought to light just how many people have had similarly poor experiences with #SFMarathon in previous years, oof.

Wanted to thank you for the informed perspective :-) and in case you didn’t get to see it before it got blackholed, also wanted to share the other problems with this weekend’s #sfmarathon races, as well as how my perspective on running has changed over the last six months https://ursamajor.dreamwidth.org/908558.html

Sticking my trunk back in given the Metaverse technology has ā€œdecidedā€that my oh so controversial posts about improperly-measured half marathon courses and yujacha hamantaschen are attempts to ā€œgather sensitive information from others as a violation of our Cybersecurity standards,ā€ or to ā€œget likes, folliws, shares, or video views in a misleading way.ā€ Faugh.

Hello! How are you all surviving our modern hellscape? I hope you’re doing things that bring you joy; tell me about them.

There is an entire data broker industry *in America* that sells giant databases of personally identifiable information from which there's no way to opt-out. That should be made illegal and punishable by law. Protect our digital privacy here at home from predatory American companies and then maybe I'll believe that going after foreign companies is anything other than xenophobia.
