Sticking my trunk back in given the Metaverse technology has “decided”that my oh so controversial posts about improperly-measured half marathon courses and yujacha hamantaschen are attempts to “gather sensitive information from others as a violation of our Cybersecurity standards,” or to “get likes, folliws, shares, or video views in a misleading way.” Faugh.

Hello! How are you all surviving our modern hellscape? I hope you’re doing things that bring you joy; tell me about them.

@flashesofpanic if you’re wondering where my post and reply to you on FB about said marathon measurements went, it got zucked! Wanted to thank you for the informed perspective :-) and in case you didn’t get to see it before it got blackholed, also wanted to share the other problems with this weekend’s #sfmarathon races, as well as how my perspective on running has changed over the last six months https://ursamajor.dreamwidth.org/908558.html

@ursamajor I finally read the article, and it’s insane that they’re blaming the certifier. It may be that the certifier measured a course that the organizers didn’t intend to run, but either way if there’s variance between the certified course and the course as run on race day, that’s on the organizers. At best they misinformed the certifier and then failed to notice the difference.
@flashesofpanic Reddit is going nuts about it (apparently how SFGate found out to write the article in the first place, heh). But it's also brought to light just how many people have had similarly poor experiences with #SFMarathon in previous years, oof.
