After a few years, I decided some time to revisit an old pet project / dmath ( https://github.com/deveel/dmath ). Days of review and refactoring, and now the performance is better than Microsoft's .NET (especially on large decimal numbers - thing that .NET doesn’t offer) 🥳

Innovation, curiosity, development are all good drivers, but they can open up to major risks in the overall architecture of an enterprise.
Sometimes the motivations behind innovative solutions are self-centered and motivated by the ambition to experiment new technologies and methods, to include in the #resume at the expense of the enterprise.

Resume Based Development

Projects and services are sometimes built by architects and developers to look good on a resume, not to solve a problem.

From being a "must" in designing systems and solutions to being heavily criticized and ditched. Is the #microservices pattern really worth the effort anymore?

The Microservices Dilemma

Microservices is a popular architecture for building distributed applications, but how they differ from a traditional SOA?

No seating places left for Nick Chapsas at #NDC in #Oslo

It was never a great option, but lately has become extreme madness…

Starting to experiment with #kiota for generating #rest clients from #openapi specifications: until now I have used AutoRest, and I have been moderately happy with it, although I never liked the Azure SDK design.
It’s now in my bucket list to start a course in #PromptEngineering since I think I fail asking #ChatGPT all the right questions, given I get all the answers wrong, whereas the rest of the world sings its magnificence
During a @msnbc interview I learnt that @gorgesmantos thinks he wouldn't be allowed to run for POTUS position by the GOP's "Ethics Committee"... is it the same one that puts a stamp as "ethical" to Donald Trump, and lets him to run?

As a junior developer I was always keen on trying new and trending technologies, without respect for production, quality, SLAs, costs.
When I turned into #architect I started to be worried about all of those business elements that I had neglected for years, ditching my own "innovation in production", to provide for the rest of the community instead.

I guess that it's true that while the goal of #developers is having fun, architects' goal instead is to make it boring...
