Artist, healer, maker, writer.

I was around for gopherspace and JANET.

The external is armour as safety against the harshness of the world.

Let’s do good things with kind hearts (penfriend)

ID photo is of a butterfly at a rehab centre I used to work at, the header photo is of my woodlands.

A picture taken yesterday by Perseverance, featuring the COVID-19 Memorial plate on the left side of the rover chassis. It commemorates the impact of the pandemic and pays tribute to the perseverance of healthcare workers around the world.

This commandeering of resources, where the rich get richer and engineer society so it stays that way almost feels like a human trait. We’ve have rulers and an “elite” class for as long as we’ve have societies and tribes.

How do we put the frameworks into our cooperative endeavour to make sure they can’t do it again and again, whilst not ending up constantly discussing decisions without getting anywhere?

Dear Solarpunk people. Help me understand how, when we build a new future, we stop the metaphorical land grab that some seem psychologically inclined towards?

Many of us donate time, resources and skill to the local communities around us, whilst the selfish few commandeer and corral anything they can.

There is an example near me where a person wants to build on what was assumed to be common land, due to a legal loophole.

How do we prevent this in the positive future?

There is a saying in Zen Buddhism. Or I was told there was by a tai chi teacher. Chop wood, carry water. Do the basic things no matter what.

I’d add to that my own sense of grounding at the moment. Bake bread, plant trees. I try to do something simple and nurturing and that will leave a positive change.

Today I am baking my twice weekly sourdough loaf, I tended my trees and watered my garden.

I am fortunate and grateful.
