Artist, healer, maker, writer.

I was around for gopherspace and JANET.

The external is armour as safety against the harshness of the world.

Let’s do good things with kind hearts (penfriend)

@Timo_Micro @quixoticgeek The seating in London started disappearing, or becoming increasingly uncomfortable in part to prevent loitering and also to make sure that homeless people didn’t have anywhere to rest and therefore had to be invisible so those in power don’t need to be faced with the problem .

I believe this is a strategy called hostile architecture, and may well be part of the bus stop design from a capitalist perspective.

I agree. The only reasonable alternative for coffee in the morning is proper tea (in the British style). Strong, with milk (without milk, the tannins are deeply unpleasant). Preferably made with a decent brand. Anything else people call tea (earl grey, herbal etc) is delightful but not for before noon.

Context- British tea drinker with a moderate obsession for properly made coffee. We travel with our own teabags.

@neil Absolutely, it can be great fun for that and the running around is surprisingly challenging for the fitness. Hope you enjoy it!

@neil Provided you can cope with the “tacticool” dudes who can sometimes frequent the forums. There’s a reason it’s used as a pejorative in the military.

Can be fun and marginally less painful than paintball.

@Niall

Given the availability of drones for aerial measurement work, I agree. That and access to otherwise inaccessible zones for work purposes. Definitely not for some posh / rich t**t to pay thousands for the corporate entertainment.

@Richard_Littler The only thing good about that picture is the quality of the embroidery work on the fabric!

@derthomas

Or, in the uk at the moment, the number of private helicopters currently flying around a supposedly “green and eco friendly” festival at Glastonbury. All weekend, wasting co2 because they want to be part of the culture for a few moments. Awful. And noise polluting for everyone under the flight paths.

@neil Therapy, for me, played 2 roles.

First, it gave me space and taught me tools to unpack and deal with certain issues, and to help manage them when my brain does the 2am scream.

Then, it offered me the feeling that, for a period of time, someone actually cared about me.

I don’t do it at the moment but I still have the mental tools.

There is, as always, a variation in quality and one or two charlatans but when you find the one you need, it helps.

@ai6yr Seems to be the same here in the UK when you peel back the layers of the game. And also with fabric recycling. Gives the donor a warm feeling and the ability to sleep at night but never truly solves the problem.

A picture taken yesterday by Perseverance, featuring the COVID-19 Memorial plate on the left side of the rover chassis. It commemorates the impact of the pandemic and pays tribute to the perseverance of healthcare workers around the world.
