We show a positive correlation between the age of selective sweeps at genes in these network and their degree of connectivity. Should we interpret these findings as older sweeps occurring at more connected genes in a network during the adaptation to drought stress?

A new preprint with Dr Wei, Dr Sharifova, and @gustavo_silva is avalable: Evolution of two gene networks underlying adaptation to drought stress in the wild tomato Solanum chilense.

We study the evolutionary processes driving the evolution of two gene networks underlying response to drought.
A #Postdoc position is available in our lab at @tu_muenchen on fungal #popgen in Blumeria species and #transposableelements. Knowledge and practical experience in bioinformatics and population genetics analysis of full genome data is desired. The salary is according to German/Bavarian income level TV-L E13 (100%). Informal inquiries can be addressed to me via email ([email protected]). Please RT. #EvolutionaryBiology #Genomics #Bioinformatics #Proteomics @jobsecoevo
We also found that the fixation of adaptive alleles in genes related to different biological functions occurs concomitantly, probably in response to strong climatic changes.
Our paper, with Dr Wei and @gustavo_silva about genomics of colonization stressful habitats around the Atacama in a wild tomato species is out in @NewPhytologist. Interestingly, our results support that colonization to new stressful habitats is mediated by the emergence of adaptive variation in numerous core elements of gene networks related, for example, to flowering time. https://nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/nph.18634.

Echo chambers and opinion dynamics explain the occurrence of vaccination hesitancy | Royal Society Open Science

Vaccination hesitancy is a major obstacle to achieving and maintaining herd immunity. Therefore, public health authorities need to understand the dynamics of an anti-vaccine opinion in the population. We introduce a spatially structured mathematical model ...
