How long before AI agents start to cover up their errors rather than apologising for them when corrected?
"Is Stanley Baxter dead?"
AI: "Yes"
"Oh, it actually appears that he is not"
AI: "He is *now*"
@geomannie Yikes. Seemingly suspected for a very long time: "Huber F (1969) Clinical aspects and neuropathology of trichloroethylene poisoning."

I'm curious. If you are in the UK & also use #Bluesky have you or do you intend to complete the age assurance procedure? Comments appreciated.

"You must complete age assurance in order to access this screen. Due to laws in your region, certain features on Bluesky are currently restricted until you're able to verify you're an adult."

@geomannie It's a fair call, but potentially expensive were things to go awry. I took the decision to shut down a small online forum because we didn't actively moderate it often enough.
@geomannie The UK Online Safety Act may be crap, but it is in force. What's mastodon.scot's defence going to be?

#SaturdayScrunching For no reason at all, here's an ancient pic (from 2004 - my 1st digital camera!) of the wonderful deformed Dalradian rocks at Imachar on the W coast of Arran. There's a lot of fancy stuff going on here - more info in alt text if you want it! πŸ€“ 😁 🀩

The movement of shingle on the beach keeps these rocks clean of algae, lichens, seaweed etc, but it also means that some years the rocks are invisible - completely buried under pebbles.

Yesterday a friend showed me this beautiful potato which was owned by her great grandfather, who had been a farmer in East Lothian. The miracle potato had survived, and been passed down the generations. πŸ€©πŸ˜‹
