We built entire cities without the "benefit" of government. Sumer was thriving millennia before "kingship descended from heaven", even in the Ubaid and Uruk periods. We built out the Indus Valley with advanced urban planing and no evidence of kingship until the cities had already stood for longer than human memory at the time. We built stone circles that followed astronomy thousands of years before the pyramids. We aligned Karahan Tepe with the solstice. We sailed the open ocean before we even had vertical foreheads. Thus was human science science, even then.
And yet no grave goods, art, or any assemblage whatsoever, give any indication of inequality for millennia. Neither does lab analysis of diet as evidenced in teeth and bones. Neither does evidence of funerary practices as illustrated conclusively in *Rites of the Gods*, by Aubrey Burl.
We built and lived in complex cities before evidence of hierarchy, patriarchy, and especially kingship appear. States had yet to have been even thought of. The archeological evidence is irrefutable. Graeber and Wengrow document this meticulously.
