I'm a 23+ year veteran of FOSS communities. I started at the ripe age of 16 on BBS's and worked my way up from there. I've been on some kind of mainframe/UNIX type machine since 16 and always been around high powered computers.
I'm passionate about circular economy wrt to datacenters, AI/HPC especially ethics - and finally my day job is community manager for oneAPI at Intel Corporation. The opinions are my own and not of my employer.

Melissa Evers, VP of Software Ecosystem Enablement at Intel is doing a #reddit AMA on building and innovating with open source #AI on Wednesday April 16.

Melissa is not only a great human being who takes the time to know each person in her org, but her command of the subject matter is impressive. Hope to see you all there and have an authentic conversation about #A and #opensource.

A few friends and I are now organizing our own graphics programming conference in Europe: https://www.graphicsprogrammingconference.nl/

Think: Game/realtime graphics, rendering, just in Europe, with less flying and cheaper hotels, to meet the same folks you'd meet in San Francisco otherwise :)

If you're interested to speak (and want to submit a talk), reach out to the contact email provided there or DM me. Same for sponsorship opportunities.

Retoots/boosts are appreciated!

Graphics Programming Conference

The Graphics Programming Conference is a conference for graphics programmers, from student to industry veteran, taking place in November in Europe.

The Attack Turkey

this morning on the run i got to the top of the hill and was resting, bc i'm out of shape, and off in the distance i see a bird trotting my way

as it gets closer i realize it's a turkey. it had a big red gobbler and its neck was iridescent. It was actually really pretty, so i just watched as it approached

Hello from #IWOCL ! Just gonna say there are more Linux laptops than at LF conferences ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

So I was asking about slurm, but I gotta find a way to entice someone to look and read the question. So I described SLURM as some kind of slime gun that a goblin uses on you if you failed your 2d8 saving through - will it work?

What was the question you're probably thinking? I just wanted to know how you submit a job with an entire software manifest to run the job instead of depending on what is on the system.

Disinformation campaigns use simple emotional and rhetorical tricks to try to get you to share propaganda and falsehoods.

Hereโ€™s a reminder of some of the tactics (from hahaganda to โ€˜people are sayingโ€™ to pretending something was a joke).

Disinformation is rampant on social media โ€“ a social psychologist explains the tactics used against you

Disinformation campaigns often use a set of rhetorical devices that you can learn to spot, like conspiracy narratives, good versus evil framing, and revealed secrets.

If you are attending Supercomputing'23 in Denver, go check out the "Magic Castle: Terraforming the Cloud to Teach HPC" tutorial on Sunday 12 Nov'23:

We have been using Magic Castle to spin up throwaway Slurm clusters in the cloud for a while now, and it's an amazing open source project!
