#PSA: If you use WeTransfer to move files online, they just changed their terms of service, and you can't opt out: they take the right to steal anything you transfer online through them to "train their AI".

Physicist turned Game Dev.
Working as programmer at a mid-sized gamedev studio, that's mostly doing #UnrealEngine projects. (My profile's title picture is the view from our office window.)
Confessing #RustLang fanboy.

I am on the clock. I should fix bugs.
But there is a cat in our apartment.
We are adopting a #cat.
I don't remember if I ever tooted about our plans to adopt one here, but my partner and I have been planning to for a long time (decades - yes, we are old), taking the first concrete steps about a year ago.
Today is the day. A friend told us about an elderly cat that desparately needs a new home, and we just had to say yes.
I am so excited. And nervous.
I will, of course, share pictures once I have some.
Periodic reminder:
Any and all use fees for government services are a regressive tax on the poor. This includes things like road tolls, car registration, fines, car inspections, on and on and on.
Anytime it's the same price for everyone, it's a major part of the income of someone in poverty, or even driving them deeper into debt, and negligible pocket change for someone wealthy.
Even allowing for someone to fill out paperwork for a fee waver means that they're having to pay the fee in one of the most scarce resources of someone in poverty - time and energy. Just make the damn things free and pay for them with progressive income and wealth taxes.
If your project is on #UnrealEngine 5.5 and you do not plan to update it to 5.6, you might want to cherry-pick Epic's CL 40762249.

Without it, applying GameUserSettings can cause a severe RAM usage spike. In one of our our projects that spike was over 300 MiB.
It's only used for a single frame, but on platforms without swap space (e.g. consoles) this might be an issue.
Some people should never get access to blender and a 3D printer.
To be precise, one person should not get access to those tools.
I am that person.
I got up early today (5AM) to start a 15 hour #3dPrint.
I expected it to be a simple matter of pressing the "print" button.
Now, 90 minutes later, I finally have a first layer that isn't awful.
I don't know why, but z-calibration and levelling were completely wrong.
I should have guessed that already, given that yesterday's print failed due to a fallen off support.
The remaining question: Should I go back to bed, or just stay up...
