Hello! We are a small independent bookshop in Stow, in the Scottish Borders. We are no longer using Twitter, for obvious reasons, but could use some new followers on Mastodon and other social media channels - where our presence is smaller than on Twitter. Please help / share this is you can! Thank you.

Friends, just because the US empire is bad doesn't mean other empires are good. Stop this dichotomy without seeing the agency of other people in the world and listening to what they're saying. Don't glorify what is happening in Venezuela. Get educated 👇

Hello #Māori Mastodon.

Sara Rahmani at Victoria University of Wellington is doing research on Māori beliefs and atheism and she’s keen to talk to more people.

She’s already in touch with Autakore: Māori Atheists and Freethinkers and has help from Tūranga from Alien Weaponry on TikTok, but if you’re Māori and want to contribute to her research email her at [email protected].

Please boost for reach. 🚀

I'm leaving #academia behind, I've had enough. Does anyone have any good job recs for someone with a master's degree in cell biology and experience working with lab finances? I'd prefer to not have to relocate. I'm in the Seattle area

I'm still trying to absorb everything but this may be the worst single-day attack Russia has carried out in #Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion. The air force says they shot down 92 of 151 drones and missiles, but that means nearly 60 got through, and it seems all of the ballistic missiles got through.

People are dead and missing and there is serious damage to the electric infrastructure. The internet is down in some areas so this is still developing.

hey, can you guys boost to help me find people with hypopituitarism and/or adrenal insufficiency, or people with careers related to these topics?

My 3 year old has a very rare condition called Pituitary Stalk Interruption Syndrome, which means most of his #pituitary gland is missing, and so he has central growth hormone, cortisol, and thyroid deficits. Last week he had an episode of severe #hypoglycemia that could have killed him, as a consequence of catching the flu. He's fine now, but I'm more than a bit shaken up. I'd love to be able to talk to, commiserate, and learn from people with similar conditions and/or expertise.

👋 Hello, new followers! We're the Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia, both a university museum and the official state art museum. We celebrated our 75th birthday in 2023, and we have a collection of around 20,000 objects: American paintings, decorative arts, works on paper, much more. Mastodon feels like a good place for us given our academic and public focus. ❤️

"More than 100,000 women may have been raped during the two-year civil war in Ethiopia’s...Tigray region, according to the most comprehensive study so far of these attacks in research conducted by the Columbia University biostatistician Kiros Berhane."

Again, the level to which #TigrayGenocide has been ignored by the world is truly horrific.

Raped during Ethiopia’s war, survivors now rejected by their families

More than 100,000 women may have been raped during the two-year civil war in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, according to the most comprehensive study.

In 2021, UNESCO added the art of Palestinian embroidery, tatreez, to its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Once a traditional craft practiced by village women, tatreez has become an important symbol of Palestinian culture and identity.
Unfortunately, access to tatreez knowledge has become a privilege.
Tirazain is a digital archive and library with the aim to digitally document, preserve and reclaim Palestinian embroidery.

This is going to be unpopular.

I keep seeing people say they're shocked how anti-Indigenous Australia is, and when I go look at their profiles they all have "leftist" written.

You all need to understand what this means for how your leftism is tied in to white supremacy.

If you're shocked to find out that a colonised country is racist, you haven't been listening.

If your leftist selves haven't been listening to Indigenous people on this Stolen Land, you're leaning into white supremacy.
