Spent a chilled New Years Day out at WWT Slimbridge. Plenty to see, really loved the Bewick's Swans.

An early morning walk to work looking down over a misty East Bristol

During icy weather remember to walk like a penguin: away from your family for months on end so you can go fishing.
Sunrise at home in South West Scotland and another night down to -8°C.

Interesting light this morning...
"Commander Vimes didn’t like the phrase “The innocent have nothing to fear,” believing the innocent had everything to fear, mostly from the guilty but in the longer term even more from those who say things like “The innocent have nothing to fear.”

Gravity-Defying Stoat.

There aren't many of these mustelids on Mull, so I was surprised and amused to see one out in the open, bouncing down the road towards me one day.

It seemed pre-occupied with a piece of bark that had fallen from one of the forestry trucks, and was playing with it for a while, before leaping around manically, and then vanishing into the undergrowth.

One from Thursday, looking over Upper Loch Torridon:

Common Dolphin.

In addition to looking for the eagles, the Mull Charters trips also seek out other wildlife, and dolphins are always a favourite.

The last two years have been fantastic for sightings. Sometimes the pods had hundreds of dolphins in them, other times, just a dozen or so, but always special to see.

On this occasion, the water was really calm and flat, allowing us to see them breaching from quite a distance. It was wonderful.

Little Owl.

Just before I relocated to the Isle Of Mull, during the winter CV19 lockdown, I spent a few sessions late in the day at the little owl site in Worcestershire.

Each time I stayed until dusk hoping to capture images of the adult female backlit against the setting sun.

Took a few visits, but I was rewarded eventually.
